About Our Chapter

Welcome to Pi Beta Phi!

My name is Samantha Layne and I am the current Chapter President of Pi Beta Phi’s SC Beta chapter here at Clemson University. We are so excited about you looking to join Greek Life and are happy to give you a glimpse into what life is like here in Pi Beta Phi. Panhellenic life gives you the opportunity to join a community of strong, like-minded women to grow along side during your time in college and beyond.

Pi Beta Phi has gifted me the opportunity to create friendships that will last a lifetime. This chapter is my home away from home and I am happy to call these girls my sisters. Our chapter is composed of diverse, loyal, unique, and compassionate individuals that come together to make an incredible support system. These girls are involved as leaders and members in all sorts of groups on campus, from Clemson Tour Guides to Tiger Dancers to numerous honors societies including Society of Women Engineers, Order of Omega, Phi Sigma Pi, and so many more. Our members are constantly growing in and out of Pi Phi as leaders, mentors, pre-professionals, and women. Our alumna can be found all over the country in medical school, law school, and all sorts of professions in between.

In joining Pi Phi, each of our members have gained over 200 cheerleaders, sisters, and friends. These girls are the first to encourage, uplift, and help each other at any time, which is such an amazing gift while going through the ups and downs that are inevitable in college. Not only do our members support each other but we support the betterment of our community by promoting literacy through Pi Beta Phi’s philanthropy Read > Lead > Achieve. Pi Phi provides a unique opportunity to be hands on in our efforts by going to a local elementary school each week to read with children, building connections, and encouraging a future generation of Tigers!

When I came to Clemson as a freshman, 1,500 miles from home and not knowing a single other person, Pi Beta Phi welcomed me into a sisterhood that I could have never dreamt possible. I have grown to be a better student, leader, sister, friend, and person all thanks to Pi Phi. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help other girls grow into the people they are meant to be just as my sisters have done for me. We look forward to meeting you to show you even more of why we are so proud to be Pi Phis!

Pi Phi Love and Mine,

Samantha

Hi Everyone!

My name is Caitlin Barkley, and I am the Chapter President for the South Carolina Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi.  I’m thrilled you are interested in learning more about our chapter, our values, and the amazing women who I’m proud to call sisters. Throughout my journey as a Pi Phi, I have been challenged to grow as an individual, to meet new people, and to take on adventures that have shaped me as a person. And, I could not be more grateful. I serve as Chapter President because I want to give back to the organization that has invested so much time and energy in me. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I believe I would not be the woman I am today without Pi Beta Phi.

Pi Phi was built on the vision of 12 courageous women who had plans much greater and far-reaching than what could fit in Monmouth, Illinois. And 150 years later, Pi Beta Phi continues to be full of motivated, inspiring, and incredible women who are impacting the world. SC Beta members are proud to be among them.

Becoming a member of Pi Beta Phi gives you the opportunity for personal growth, strong academic support, the chance to meet lifelong sisters, and an ability to give back to the community through our philanthropy, Read>Lead>Achieve. The women of SC Beta are involved in every aspect of campus life, and our chapter is made up of individuals with diverse personalities, skills, and voices. However, we are united in our values and goals for Pi Beta Phi, and this makes our sisterhood so special.

All My Pi Phi Love,

Caitlin Barkley
